@Ana, No side-by-side view, but you can switch back and forth from active speaker view and gallery view on iPad. There is a menu on the upper left of your screen. See under iPad here: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362323-Changing-the-video-layout-Active-Speaker-View-and-Gallery-View-

Here are a couple examples of naming your meetings: Sp20-AA-111-01 Class or Sp20-AA-111-01 Office Hours. You may find this resource on using Zoom to support your course useful, specifically the section on Scheduling meetings.

can you assign students ti break out rooms ahead of time?
Pamela Levine (she/her)
51:10
@Hanno, yes you can either assign students to breakout rooms randomly (Zoom calls this “automatic assignment”) or you can pre-assign students to breakout rooms. There are some caveats to know about pre-assigned breakout rooms we’ve documented here: https://tlhub.stanford.edu/docs/enable-students-to-meet-in-groups-using-zoom-breakout-rooms/

Who can be a moderator and how do moderators access and visit breakout rooms?
Pamela Levine (she/her)
01:04:48
@Russ both Zoom Hosts and Co-Hosts can visit “bop into” breakout rooms by choosing the room they want to visit from their Breakout Rooms panel. More info about how to do this and what it looks like for a Host/Co-Host is here: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/206476313-Managing-Breakout-Rooms

@Hanno, here is the information about the pre-assigned breakout timing: “Anyone who joins after the host of the meeting joins will not be pushed into their pre-assigned breakout room (this will likely be most or all of the students if the host logs in a bit early to get things set up). To get around this, when you’re ready to send students to breakout rooms, click “recover to pre-assigned rooms” in the breakout room dialogue box.”
