Session 2D. 2:00-2:50pm "Self Determination Part 1" English w/Spanish Interpreter - Shared screen with speaker view
Does the service expire at a particular age ? Once opted into self determination ?
Self-Determination is available throughout your life to replace the traditional services purchased by the regional center.
Ok. Thankyou. Isn’t there something that changes at age 18 and transition to a different program ?
No, but there can be a refiguring of the budget to recognize that a child is becoming an adult with different needs.
If you have any other questions or I can be of any assistance, feel free to write me at Doug_Pascover@imaginesls.org

After orientation, clients are supposed tp start a person-centered planning process. What's your recommendations for starting the PcP process during the pandemic?
It will be available to you this summer. No more wait list.
A lot of PCPs are being done by Zoom during the pandemic. Obviously, that doesn’t work for everyone.
Are you aware of some of the better evaluators in LA area?
Joe Donofrio, Laura Broderick, Scott and Lori Shepherd are all pros. I am sure there others who are very good.
Can Independent Facilitator do all the things that we (aging) parents do like hiring someone to clean apartment and do laundry, making appointments and reminding person to go to them, talking to doctors, getting gift cards for person to pay for some things directly (like iTunes account)?
Yes, but they should not be conservators.
