The Stanford Maternal and Child Health Research Institute (MCHRI) partners with SPARK to support innovative maternal and child health projects to advance research discoveries into promising new treatments for patients. In this talk, Dr. Kevin Grimes, co-director of SPARK, will provide an overview of the translational research program, access to expertise in drug and diagnostic development, training and mentoring opportunities, and resources to support translational efforts. Hear from SPARK scholars present their current projects supported by MCHRI for research focused on maternal and child health, share updates in the drug and diagnostic development stage, and discuss future direction of their work.
Drs. Jin Billy Li and Paul Vogel will present their work on therapeutic RNA editing for genomic diseases. Drs. Jayakar Nayak and Dawn Bravo will then discuss their project on gene-corrected stem cell therapy for cystic fibrosis sinus diseases. Finally, Dr. William Goodyer will share his work on a novel imaging agent to visualize the cardiac conduction system during cardiac surgery.
