This program performs applied research to improve the security and resilience of transmission, distribution, and grid-edge systems. He is experienced in the areas of cyber security, Smart Grid security and the penetration testing of embedded systems. Prior to joining EPRI, Galen led the Embedded and Application Security Group at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI). In this position, he was the project manager for several Smart Grid security projects. Galen has also performed cyber security research for government research laboratories and commercial clients. Galen earned a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky.
